How to reach the place from Bangalore

how to reach the place from bangalore?

if you are visiting us in a pvt vehicle, take nh 4 to tumkur. there
is kamat upachaar at about 50 km from bangalore where you get good food!
of course you will get better food at our home if you inform in advance!!

just before you enter tumkur there is a tumkur bypass (to your left) going towards gubbi/shimoga which is advisable if you want to avoid tumkur traffic. this comes just after the tollgate. on this bypass after about 8km, there is a WRONG advice to take a right turn to go to gubbi; ignore that and proceed straight! at that spot the left is towards kunigal. when you meet the highway (nh 206, also called b.h.road) again after about 2 km take left towards Gubbi.

just prior to reaching gubbi bus stand, you will see a huge arch (to your left) welcoming you to the channabasaveshwara temple. enter through the arch and stick to the main road going towards kg temple and further to cs pura. you will pass through the vilages of hale (old) gubbi and then chikkonahalli. after about 4 km drive from the arch the road bifurcates; take the right towards cs pura. the left is towards hebbur.

you will see g.hosahalli, koppa(indiranagar), surigenahalli, marathipalya.
just as you reach the km stone which informs you that cs pura is 10 km,
there is also a board which tells you to take a right to go to kadaba.
take that right (again it wrongly informs you that kadaba is 6.6 km!!).
if you proceed on the main road without taking the right you will reach
kg temple after about a kilometer. then you know you need to turn back!!

as you go towards kadaba you will pass through the villages of
chaakenahalli and jeeganahalli gate. after driving for about 3 km, to your
left you will see basavanagudda and our house. a huge pongamia pinnata
(karanj/indian beech/honge/pongam) tree to your left is a sure
indicator that you have reached the right place. look for the first
left (mud road) after jeeganahalli gate.

by public transport:

get to gubbi (88 km from b'lore) by any bus. any bus towards arsikere,
tiptur, shimoga from bangalore will bring you to gubbi. it takes about
100 minutes for this journey. there are also two trains from bangalore
in the morning -- one at about 6:30 and the other at about 8 -- in the
morning. any train going to arsikere will pass through gubbi. gubbi is
the third station after tumkur (some trains do not stop between tumkur
and gubbi). gubbi rly station is about 2 km from the bus stand. so you
may want to take an auto reach the busstand from rly station.

from gubbi there is a bus to jeeganahalli at about 8:40.
jeeganahalli-gate is the name of the place where you need to alight.
gubbi-jeeganahalli takes about 25-30 minutes. from here walk towards
kadaba. walk for about 1.5 km to reach basavanagudda, a small roadside
conglemeration of stones to mark the spot of a temple under a honge tree.
to your left slightly away from the main road you will see a stone pillar
fenced land and that is the place.

alternatively, there is a bus from gubbi directly to basavanagudda.
this is the bus to kadaba VIA k.g. temple leaving gubbi at 10:45.
the other alernative is to take any vehichle (and there are umpteen of
them) towards c.s.pura or k.g. temple from gubbi and hop off at kadaba
cross which comes just a km before k.g. temple. from the main road you
will see a road sign mentioning that kadaba is 6.6 km. walk towards kadaba
for about 3 km to reach basavanagudda.

you can also hire an auto from gubbi to basavanagudda for the whole day
(costing about 150-200 bucks). you may hire an auto from kg temple to
basavanagudda for about 30 bucks. in any case just ask for "people from bangalore who are developing thota (orchard)", most people around will direct you correctly.

our home on the land is not in any village. jeeganahalli-gate is the
nearest village to the land on the road. there is no habitation in
basavanagudda; but it is on the main road and it is the nearest
point to get off to reach the land.
